It started a few months back when a European Daily published a caricature of The Prophet Muhammad (SAW). I considered it a work of a halfwit mind & thought that strict action would be taken against the culprit who tried to widen the gap between the West & Islam through his stupid action. But alas! No action taken against him & he went scot free & that was tantamount to eulogizing his nitwit audacity.

I am among those people who renounce & denounce the notorious blaspheme law. Everybody has the right to express his thoughts & feelings. BUT he must express the dissidence in a humanly manner & not in an uncothy fashion. Furthermore, he must have concrete reasons to support his arguments and not just mere rhetoric. After all, human beings are ethical beings & we need to prove it through our actions & deeds. The West claims to be the most civilized & developed nation. Is this the way the civilized nation expressed their feelings?

If we talk about in terms of quantity, the west superseded the East in brutality, killings & action against humanity. It was the West who started the bloody World Wars. In history Atom Bomb is just used once. Oh lordy, lordy that was a western country who used it. Christians were involved in the Holocaust. So it's better for the West to see it's own record of human rights violation & terrorism rather than others.

Not a single religion, teaches hatred, violence & terrorism. Every founder of the innumerable religion preached love, humanity, peace, tolerance & forbearance. If something is going awry anywhere then we can't blame the founders or the religion itself. It's the misinterpreter of the faith that are responsible for this mess up. No one with the rational mind would held the founders of religion responsible for the atrocities & killings. For instance, neither the Lord Krishna nor the teachings of Vedas were responsible for the genocide in Gujrat. It was the game played by the Hindu extremists who were unaware of the teachings of Hindu Dharma. The same goes for Islam. Not a single verse of the Holy Quran justifies the pogrom or any act against the humanity or killing of innocent people.

The world is at the verge of clash of civilization. For Christ sake, please don't let these stupid actions befall again.

Nepotism Prevails Everywhere

The HEC launched a program to bring Professors bearing degree of PhD from the foreign country. In Ned University Ms. Zainab Zaidi, came through this program. She got degree of doctorate in Communication System from United States & got experience of teaching in a prestigious university there for one year. While other teachers are sullen & impart knowledge in a standoffish manner, she soon became famous among the students due to her candid way of teaching.

The higher authorities in NED are like the tribal masses who live by the code of vendetta. Whenever any student complain about the incompetence of these standoffish teachers, the Chairman neither forward that complain nor take any action against. Moreover, the CMs don't like any of the teachers to show efficiency or innovation. Nepotism prevails so hence their analogy with Tribal Kings isn't an exaggeration.

In NED, where there's shortage of laboratory equipments & no labs are carried out for the subject like TV & RADAR (subject which she taught us), she managed a study tour for the students of Telecommunication to the PAF COLLEGE. The trip was a very successful one & we for the very first time came out of our books. This all is something rare in our educational system. Her initial contract with our university was for one year but the chairman refused to extend it without any plausible reason. Telecommunication is a new department of NED & we're short of competent & devout teachers who can teach us the special subjects of telecommunication. Knowing all this and not extending her contact tells a different story.

There're so many ex-students of our university who covertly want to serve this moribund institution but seeing the attitude of the higher authorities, they retreat. Ms Zainab is also among those. She can get a much better job in our country or in foreign country but she was here to serve the institution from where she did her BE. If the same thing continues to happen in Pakistan, no one would like to come from the outside world to serve here. This attitude will surely enhance our image as a cruel & ungrateful nation.

Rational Approach

A week ago, I had a skirmish with my friends in the university over the irresponsible statement of Iranian President Mahmood Ahmedinejad. I tried to make them realise that such an attitude can lead us no where. But all went in vain & they start questioning about my faith. This is not the only example of bigotry & extremism in our society. We find it everywhere. I was at that time in university & you can guess the level of 'tolerance' among them. Universities are supposed to be the battle field of ideas but alas the situation is something opposite in our educational institution.

Our leaders are well aware of this situation & they do what the 'people' are expecting from them. They try to sooth the innocent people with such statements. Iran wants to lead the Muslim Nation in Armageddon & this statement shows its intension. Same was the case with the Taliban regime. Inspite of preparing themselves to come at par with the developed countries, they prefered delivering jingoistic statements showing rabid intensions. And at last that attitude perished them.

'wipe Israel off the map'. Why don't he muster up the courage to do so or was that a commandment or an order for other states. He's a young man. He desparatly needs to learn things.

Both the Jews & the Moslims are waiting for their respective savior. Jews are making rapid advancement in the field of science & technolgy to welcome their savior while the later ones are making things worse because they believe the savior'd resolve all issues. This is the difference of approach between the two nations. Time will tell which one is the rational approach.
